Exploring the Acropolis in Lindos, Rhodes

We’ve recently returned from a short break on the Greek island of Rhodes. We stayed in the picturesque village of Lindos with its cobbled streets and white-washed buildings. But, more on Lindos in another post.
Situated atop a 116m cliff in Lindos is the Acropolis. Just before sunset one evening, we climbed over 250 steps to visit the site. The views from the top are incredible, and walking in the footsteps of ancient Greeks and Romans, dating back to the 6th century BC (when Lindos was founded), is truly thought-provoking. The most prominent structure within the Acropolis is the Temple of Athena Lindia, also built during the 6th century BC.
The evening was a great time to visit, as the daytime crowds and heat had dispersed. The light was also at its best with the low sun creating some fantastic long shadows.
